The Bowen Technique

I studied the Bowen Technique with the European College of Bowen studies in 2007-2008 after completing my Anatomy & Physiology and various other courses in therapy. Bowen treatments look to balance and re-align the whole person (physically, emotionally and mentally) by encouraging and kick-starting the body's natural healing mechanisms. The treatment, performed through light clothing, involves a series of rolling-type moves using thumbs or fingers over muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia at precise points on the body. These are interspersed with short breaks where you are left resting. This allows your body to respond, and is a very important part of the treatment.

Many people choose Bowen as a means of stress management and health maintenance. It has been reported to affect a number of incidental factors: improved quality of sleep, ability to concentrate and focus, mood elevation and a more positive outlook on life! Due to the gentle nature of its application, Bowen is suitable for adults, children, the elderly and newborn babies.

After an initial full consultation, treatments are followed up with updates prior to each subsequent appointment. Four to five treatments, at weekly intervals, are often sufficient to achieve long-lasting relief although further treatments may be required. It is not uncommon for clients to feel the benefits after their first or second appointment, but this varies with each client depending on their lifestyle and the nature of their problem.
